What is an elastomeric membrane roof?
The elastomeric membrane is a two-ply coating made of modified bitumen (SBS), hot-welded with a torch. This solution is particularly recommended for:
- residential buildings with flat roofs
- commercial and industrial buildings
- garages, extensions, and balconies
It provides exceptional waterproofing and a lifespan of 25 to 30 years.
How is an elastomeric membrane installed?
The installation of an elastomeric membrane roof is a precise process that requires expertise and rigor. At LK Toitures, we follow well-defined steps to ensure long-lasting waterproofing and a professional finish.
Surface preparationWe begin by inspecting the existing substrate (wood roof, concrete, or rigid insulation), then clean and repair any irregularities. A clean and level base is essential for proper adhesion.
Installation of the base membraneA first layer, either self-adhesive or mechanically fastened, is applied over the entire surface. This base membrane acts as a waterproof underlayer and stabilizes the roof.
Fusing of the finishing membraneThe finishing membrane is rolled out and hot-welded with a torch onto the base membrane. This step creates a seamless bond, ensuring complete waterproofing.
Detail finishingWe pay special attention to sensitive areas: flashings, drains, skylights, and adjacent walls. Every detail is carefully sealed to prevent any infiltration.
Final inspectionA thorough check is carried out to ensure the quality of the work: adhesion, waterproofing, alignment, and safety. The site is then cleaned before handing it over.
