At LK Toitures, the installation of a multi-ply asphalt and gravel roof follows a proven process that ensures the performance and longevity of your roof. Here are the main steps of our process:
1. Inspection and surface preparation
First, our experts inspect the existing structure to detect any defects, moisture areas, or irregularities. The surface is then cleaned, leveled, and prepared to receive the membrane layers.
2. Application of bituminous felts
Several plies of saturated felt (typically 3 to 5) are laid in alternating layers, creating a solid base. Each layer is carefully aligned to ensure uniform coverage.
3. Hot asphalt application
Hot asphalt is applied between each layer to fuse them together and create a waterproof membrane. This step is crucial to ensure the system’s watertightness.
4. Installation of the finishing layer
Once the layers are sealed, a final layer of asphalt is applied, followed by the addition of gravel. This gravel protects the roof from UV rays, thermal shocks, and erosion.
5. Final inspection and site cleanup
A complete quality check is carried out to ensure the roof is properly installed and meets all standards. The site is then cleaned, leaving the area tidy and safe.
