Whats is a PVC membrane ?
The PVC membrane (polyvinyl chloride) is a single-layer thermoplastic membrane primarily used on commercial, industrial, and institutional roofs. Its high resistance to chemicals, grease, and flames makes it ideal for technical buildings, flat roofs, and areas with high exposure.
The PVC membrane offers an estimated lifespan of around 25 years, depending on maintenance, weather exposure, rooftop activity, and thickness.

How is a PVC membrane roof installed?
The installation of a PVC membrane is precise and technical, carried out without the use of flames, and ensures excellent weld quality.
1. Surface preparation
Complete inspection and cleaning of the roof. The substrate (either the existing roof or a new insulating panel) must be clean and stable.
2. Installation of insulation
A compatible insulation layer is either mechanically fastened or glued. It provides a solid base and enhances energy performance.
3. Positioning the PVC membrane
The membrane is carefully unrolled and positioned over the insulation. A slight overlap is left between each sheet.
4. Hot-air seam welding
The seams are precisely welded using a hot-air tool, creating a uniform, durable, and flame-free watertight seal.
5. Finishing and details
Sensitive areas (corners, drains, penetrations, flashings) are treated with preformed pieces or reinforced PVC strips.
6. Final inspection
A thorough verification is carried out to ensure the quality of the welds, the fastening, and the overall uniformity of the installation.
PVC requires proper annual maintenance, mainly focusing on drains and debris removal. When needed, it is recommended to clean with a manufacturer-approved product to improve reflectivity.
